The 2024 Annual Meeting of the College Graduates Employment Association and the 2nd National College Students Employment and Entrepreneurship Expo were held in Changzhou

From December 16 to 18, the 2024 Annual Meeting of the College Graduates Employment Association (hereinafter referred to as the Association) and the 2nd National College Students Employment and Entrepreneurship Expo were held in Changzhou. The conference was themed "Promoting High-Quality and Full Employment of College Graduates: Coordination, Integration, Innovation, and Adaptation." It aligned with policy directives such as the "Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Implementing the Employment-First Strategy to Promote High-Quality and Full Employment" and the "Notice from the Ministry of Education on Promoting the Employment and Entrepreneurship of the 2025 Cohort of National College Graduates." Anchoring on the strategic goal of "promoting alignment between talent cultivation and the demands of economic and social development," the event leveraged the collaborative role of social organizations and invited experts from all sectors to engage in in-depth discussions.

Chen Zhili, Vice Chairperson of the 11th Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, sent a congratulatory letter to the conference. Li Lianning, former Deputy Secretary-General of the NPC Standing Committee and Honorary President of the China Private Education Association, delivered a keynote report. Zhang Tianbao, former Vice Minister of Education and National Inspector General Advisor, attended and addressed the meeting. Liu Changya, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the China Education Development Foundation and former Director of the Development Planning Department of the Ministry of Education, delivered a keynote report. Wang Lujiang, President of the Association and former Party Secretary of Beijing Language and Culture University, presented the Association's work report. Distinguished guests included Fang Wei, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education's Student Services and Quality Development Center; Hao Zhiqiang, Director of the Education and Examination Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Kang Ning, Executive Vice President of the China Education Development Strategy Society; Lin Wei, Executive Vice Dean of the Employment Research Institute for College Graduates of the Ministry of Education and former First-Level Inspector of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education; Zhu Zhengqing, Vice Chairman of the Changzhou CPPCC and Director of the Changzhou Science and Education City Management Committee; and Lu Xiancai, Vice President of Nanjing University, who all delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was hosted by Zhang Fengyou, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the Association. Over 220 leaders and experts, including Zhang Min, Yang Xiaochun, Xu Shijie, Liu Zhu, Zhang Zongming, Xi Yanli, and others, participated in the conference.

In her congratulatory letter, Chen Zhili expressed her congratulations on the successful convening of the annual meeting and expo. She highlighted the importance of college graduates' employment and entrepreneurship, which is tied to personal value realization, family happiness, public welfare, economic development, and the nation's future. Chen praised the Association for its achievements in resource coordination, building platforms for university-industry collaboration, advancing the integration of industry and education, and providing career education and employment guidance services. She emphasized the need for the Association to continue innovating service models, improving service quality, and leveraging its role as a bridge and link.

Li Lianning delivered a report titled "Promoting College Students' Employment Through Legal Thinking." He stressed that comprehensive rule of law is a profound reform in national governance, playing a key role in protecting the employment rights of college students. He pointed out that relevant laws, such as the "Employment Promotion Law of the People’s Republic of China," must be strictly enforced. He also noted the legislative progress of laws like the "Private Economy Promotion Law," which will provide critical support for college graduates' employment.

Zhang Tianbao acknowledged the Association’s significant achievements in promoting employment and entrepreneurship among college graduates through research and practical initiatives. He noted the challenges of high overall employment demand and structural employment conflicts. Zhang urged the Association to further leverage its collaborative strengths as a social organization, rally societal forces, innovate work approaches, and enhance service effectiveness.

Wang Lujiang presented the Association's 2024 work summary and outlined plans for 2025. She emphasized strengthening Party leadership, deepening industry-education integration, improving employment services, conducting targeted research, and enhancing internal governance. For 2025, the Association will aim to promote high-quality and full employment for college graduates by innovating service models, uniting societal resources, and driving education-industry collaboration.

The morning of December 16 featured the launch ceremonies of the 2nd National College Students Employment and Entrepreneurship Expo and the 2025 Cohort College Graduates "Career Opportunities" Job Fair series. Additionally, the "Morning Star" College Student Employment Empowerment Initiative and the "Guiding the Future" book series were released. Strategic cooperation agreements were signed between the Association and organizations such as Geely Group, TULINK Technology, Dongxifang Education, the Modern Vocational Education Research Institute, and Chengdu University of Technology.

Following the opening ceremony, Zhao Min elaborated on key points of employment policies for the 2025 cohort of college graduates, focusing on the requirements outlined in the "Notice from the Ministry of Education." Reports were delivered by Ouyang Kang, Huang Kan, and others, covering topics such as talent market demands, vocational education development, and education reform in the AI era. The thematic discussions also included roundtable dialogues on technology and industry trends and the alignment of talent cultivation with economic and social development.
