On December 26, the 2024 China Higher Education Institutions Science and Technology Achievements Trade Fair opened in Nanjing. Minister of Education and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group Huai Jinpeng, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, Xin Changxing, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Xu Kunlin, Deputy Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Governor, also attended the opening ceremony.

Huai Jinpeng pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping has made specific requirements for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in universities during the 20th Central Committee's Third Plenary Session and the National Education Conference. The Ministry of Education has made improving the efficiency of the transformation of university scientific and technological achievements a major reform task to promote the construction of a strong education nation. Focusing on the "new" and "quality" in university scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation, the goal is to accelerate the nurturing of new industries with the "new" from university technologies and enhance the quality of industries with the "wisdom" from university talents, contributing the strength of universities to the development of new quality productivity. In today's world, the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is accelerating. Chinese universities have formed unique experiences in the practice of technological achievement transformation, including university-enterprise collaboration for maximum efficiency, faculty and students creating together as the greatest feature, and government, industry, academia, research, and finance coordination for maximum support. This trade fair is expected to serve as a platform linking resources from government, industry, academia, research, and finance, building bridges for deep integration of industry and education, and accurate cooperation between universities and enterprises, promoting the effective integration of technology chains, industrial chains, financial chains, and talent chains. Xin Changxing pointed out that in advancing Chinese-style modernization, General Secretary Xi Jinping has given Jiangsu the glorious mission of "leading the way and setting an example" and clearly requires Jiangsu to build a globally influential industrial and technological innovation center and become an important base for the development of new quality productivity. Jiangsu has a relatively complete industrial system, strong supporting capacity, innovative enterprise clusters with strong carrying capacity, numerous universities and research institutions, and a favorable business environment, all of which contribute to forming innovation agglomeration effects and provide fertile ground for the transformation of technological achievements. Jiangsu is home to the first national regional technology transfer and transformation center for universities, which serves the whole country. Jiangsu will fully support the construction and development of regional centers to better serve the national industrial development strategy. He expects more scientific and technological achievements from universities to be implemented in Jiangsu, more enterprises and institutions to invest and settle in Jiangsu, and to jointly promote the transformation of more scientific and technological achievements into real productivity and new quality productivity.

During the opening ceremony, the National Regional Technology Transfer and Transformation Center for Universities (Jiangsu) was officially unveiled, with nearly 60 top domestic universities signing agreements to participate in its construction. After the opening ceremony, attendees visited the exhibition areas for major achievements promotion, university achievements marketplace, student innovation and entrepreneurship, and Jiangsu regional center.

The 2024 China Higher Education Institutions Science and Technology Achievements Trade Fair is held in Nanjing from December 26-28.
