On August 27, 2024, the senior leadership of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Education Group accompanied the delegation from UKM (The National University of Malaysia) on a visit to the City University of Macau. The interaction between the two parties yielded significant progress. During the discussions, the leadership of the City University of Macau expressed strong support for the proposal to establish a Chinese campus of UKM (The National University of Malaysia) in Macau and Hengqin. They also expressed interest in holding detailed talks in the near future to discuss the implementation of the project. In addition, both parties agreed to collaborate in areas such as faculty exchange, teacher training, dual-degree programs, and credit recognition, with plans to send an official delegation to visit UKM (The National University of Malaysia) soon.

The City University of Macau leadership attending the meeting included: President Liu Jun, Vice President Han Wei, Dean of the Faculty of Finance Zhang Weiguang, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Jin Lixian, Dean of the Faculty of Education Cheng Liying, Director of the Office of the President Xie Jiayi, and Admissions Officer Liu Shiyun.
